About Me

Hello Everyone,

Here is a current project that I would like to begin. Please DM if you are interested and I can give more details.

Perceived Projections
Art lets people create an interpretive connection to the world around them. Technology enables people to develop an authentic relationship to the world around them. Perceived Projections allows us to discover both of these worlds by capturing portraits of people, and their digital selves, as seen through social media.

Perceived Projections will explore this question using the traditional "portraiture sitting" experience as its foundation and connecting with people from around the world using social platforms to create virtual, real-time compositional portraits of people as perceived through their digital channels. For these portraits, by projecting the subjects using: FaceTime, Instagram Live Stories, and Facebook Live Streaming to capture the figure onto the canvas. To simulate the direct relationship and connectivity that technology allows between people and creating a tracing of the portrait projected pose on the canvas and painting in a wet-on-wet Allo Prima style. The piece will have an allotted 3 to 4-hour timeframe for completion. While in a session, myself, and the subject will have the opportunity to post the work in progress online in their own social channels.

The relationship between model and artist is a big part of the process when creating pieces of this nature. Traditionally the artist and model would be in the same room solving a pose, composition, lighting and colour to create the work. Constructing the piece in a studio through a projection, but modelling from somewhere else in the world will pose significant challenges that will inform the work in exciting ways. Modern forms and communication will dictate the composition, lighting and colour, will result in inspiration from a period where such portraiture dialogue did not exist.

As an artist, there are many exciting ways to connect and communicate the exploration of composition, light and colour — the medium, is in part, the artist's message. Perceived Projects also lends itself to collaboration with other creative professionals, such as photographers, new media artists. The act of creating a piece of art through modern forms of communication is of great interest both personally and as a testament to our times.
