Jewel Hughes Byrd, of Arizona, USA, is a model, missionary, fundraiser, and humanitarian. Jewel’s missionary and humanitarian work is carried out under the umbrella of Pisteos International Church, in conjunction with Byrd Enterprises of AZ, Inc., as the Assistant Director of Community Development.
The youngest of twelve, Jewel, born in the Philippines to a retired US Navy veteran, is of mixed Asian and Western European descent, combining Filipino, Chinese, Spanish and Irish. This eclectic ethnic mix has served her well in her missionary travels, which have taken her to Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Central America.
As the house and fit model for the award-winning clothing line, Black Russian Label (www.blackrussianlabel.com), Jewel has graced the runways of both Phoenix Fashion Week and Scottsdale Fashion Week, while also appearing on behalf of BRL at a number of charity-oriented fashion events, including runway shows. In addition to her runway work for BRL and a number of designers, Jewel has been a featured face in BRL’s marketing campaigns.
Each year, as the highlight of her year, Jewel spends the month of July in India, serving in the orphanages, medical clinics, and schools of Hopegivers International (www.hopegivers.org). Her service to the children of Hopegivers continues year-round, as she conducts clothing drives and fundraising efforts for the benefit of these children. In addition to her work with Hopegivers, Jewel is part of the worship team of Academia Church (www.academiachurch.org), and regularly participates in Academia’s weekly H.O.P.E. Project (Homeless Outreach Participation Endeavor).
As a major component of her community development efforts, Jewel is the driving force behind “Fashion For A New Life,” a series of fashion shows designed for the purpose of building a community of concern, utilizing the vehicles of fashion and the runway.

For our next event, Byrd Enterprises together with the Red Door Spa presents "Fashion: Hope & Soul", a fashion show benefiting the Drop of Hope project and Mending the Soul. The fashion show will take place at 7pm on Friday, October 19, 2012, and it will be held in the pavilions of the Hampton Inn and Suites in Goodyear, AZ. Red Carpet at 6pm. Doors open at 6:30pm.
