I have been taking photographs in a serious way since the late 1980s making my own black and white images. My favourite and consistently most successful subject matter has been women - portraits and nudes. My wife tells me it’s a wonderful hobby for a man. I photograph women because I like doing so and because they inspire me to produce my best images. I prefer to photograph people who are maybe a bit unconventional to make images that are a little bit different. In my experience, the best pictures happen when a model brings her own distinctive personality to a photo session and isn’t merely a blank canvas for the photographer’s imagination. In recent years, I have inevitably succumbed to the lure of digital and branched out into colour work. Some of my black and white images appear on the international contemporary art site PicassoMio.
