My background is in film making and screen writing. Having gone through film school and making short films, it's always been about telling a story. My photoshoots are like a tiny little movie. Essentially, I've got an image that is like a scene from a movie, there's a story I want to tell, must tell, or else it just gnaws at me.

I love every facet of creating, from the idea to the planning, from the props to the costumes, the lights, the camera, the set, but most importantly the collaboration with the model. I so much enjoy the preproduction conversations about what we're doing, how we'll do it, what they can bring to it. There's always this wonderfully beautiful moment when you've had so much back and forth with a model and the day of the shoot they just nail it. I feel my biggest job is to get everything else right, that's what I owe to the people I'm collaborating with. It's very difficult when you come from a shoot where your model gets it right and you go into editing and realize, I fucked up. Because everyone I have worked with has been so wonderful in giving me what I need from them, it's heartbreaking to me when I've dropped the ball. I'm always highly critical of my work in that way. However, I hope that the work we did together was fun all the same, because it's certainly a lot of fun. I don't like it to be easy, there's no fun if there aren't challenges when trying to pull off an idea.
