Inspired in equal measure by the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood and the androgynous minimalism of high fashion, ideally I would love to produce photographs that blend the idyllic and the prosaic; the intricate detail of baroque and renaissance art with gritty urban scenes of post-industrial society. I have yet to achieve this with my work but it is an ambition I'm (slowly) working towards.

I dislike the vacuity of fashion - I feel fashion can - and should - be political and artistic. Fashion and photography are escapist mediums - yet life is beautiful without gloss and contrivance. I want to document beauty as I see it - not the indoctrinated ideal of beauty, not necessarily the conventional fashion standard of beauty either. For me, beauty is not a one dimensional sphere based on stringent physical criteria - its just a charm, a kind of poignancy. Conventional attractiveness is all well and good but I find it a bore. What I want to see in my photographs are people who have the strength just to be. That, to me, is beautiful.

Of course, this is not to say that I will not succumb to something that is just vacantly pretty - as you may see from my current portfolio, I am very easily seduced by "prettiness". But in the end I hope my photographs will be more than disposable snaps of interchangeable faces. I would like it to do justice to the breath and personality of my subjects. In terms of collaborations, I would hope to find people that I could happily count amongst my friends.

Unlike many here, photography is not my profession so I have the luxury of doing what I wish creatively. Models/ creatives with a similar vision are encouraged to get in touch.
