About Me

I have been studying makeup art ever since I can remember. I started out by taking out a makeup instruction book written by Way Bandy. He was a makeup artist whos work I saw on the covers of Cosmopolotin Magazine. When I was 16 and a Junior in High School (1979-80), I decided to go to school nights at the same time for Cosmotology. Unfortunatly my father got sick and I had to postpone the rest of my cosmotology education. After I graduated High School my aunt got me a spot to apprentice on a full feature film being shot in Canada. That was a wonderful experience and I learned a lot about not only makeup but also etiquette on the set which is important. When I returned to the US my Father asked me to help run the family business. When he decided to retire we sold the family business and I finally went back and got my Cosmetology license in the state of New Jersey in 1994. I continued with my education and took advanced courses in make up at The Makeup Shop in 1995-96. I studied makeup for Print, Film, Television, Runway etc.. I also studied Special Effects such as Injury simulation, Aging, period makeup and more. I went on to do four Short Student films for Students studying to be Directors at New York University, an Infomercial for television, and several years of EMS education drills for local EMT'S Firemen, and Policemen.
It is especially important to know well and get injury simulation correct for the educatin of the Rescue Squads so they can identify and treat the situation appropriately.

I support the Multi Media Art Center in Bloomfield NJ where they have a film forum on Wed nights. People from the industry get together, watch a film, and then have group discussions on the film with the director and or writer, producer of the film.

Makeup has been my passion for the better part of my life wether I was working with makeup or had to work in other professions to get by.
I hope to meet and possibly work with other professionals of the group. I feel we all have something we can share with others so we can learn from each other and possibly work together.
I have no children so my schedule is quite flexible. I can work at a moments notice as long as times do not conflict with another project I might be working on. I am available to travel to locations outside my area as well.
I can be contacted by calling my cell phone or by e-mailing me.
My website is in the process of being developed so I will add the URL when it is complete.

I hope to become part of your community in Model Mayhem.

Regards,
Rosann Cawood
