PORTRAIT PAINTING.

I am an amateur portrait artist with ten years experience. I work mainly with oils on textured paper or board or on canvas. A canvas can be hung directly, but the textured paper requires framing.

I am based in Bradford, UK, and whilst I would be happy to meet to take photos should you wish, I often work from photos provided. You can see from the examples of my work on this site, I like figurative art, but I am happy to consider any style and welcome a challenge!

Please contact me if you would like me to paint a portrait for you or discuss a project. I usually produce pictures measuring 40cm x 20cm or 50cm x 40cm.

My early influences were the French Impressionists especially Manet, Monet, Degas and Renoir. More recently I have also become interested in several contemporary artists particularly Pierre Farel, a French artist who lives on Corsica, and Jack Vettriano whose art I find utterly inspiring. Vettriano's pictures all tell some sort of story and often reflect the darker aspects of human relationships.
