My name is Amy Louise Lawrence, I was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, although I spent the last 4 years of my life in Leicester, completing a fashion and contour design course at Demontfort University. All the garments shown in the pictures are my own designs. I have pattern cut and sewn the peices to a best possible standard. I have also created my own prints using freehand drawings and photoshop. I have worked with clients such as, Harriets Muse, Shadowline, Angelic Weapons and Triumph International. 2010 has been a big year for me, along with graduating from university, i was made the winner of a competition set by a top London fashion label Harriet’s Muse. The judges included: Craig Spellar, Creative Director for Harriet’s Muse; Amie Higginson, Head Designer for Kate Moss for Topshop; Sophie Higginson, Stylist for Sophie Anderton, and Vicky McClenaghan the Stylist for ‘Dazed & Confused’ magazine, ASOS and Little Boots. The brief was ‘to explore the juxtaposition between organic and industrial form, looking at exoskeleton construction and geometrics whilst retaining femininity.’ I won the competition for ‘the most promising commercial translation’. Following this i was approached by the manager of a local leicester magazine 'from dusk till dawn'. I was asked to organise a catwalk to open the leicester comedy festival, in conjunction with Leicester city council. The highlight of my time at University was being chosen to have my final collection showcased in a catwalk at the prestigious freemasons hall in Covent Garden, London. The show was excelent and has gained alot of attention from the press. Im currently looking for a job in the fashion industry. My dream is to be involved in music video shoots and concerts. My designs are quite quirky and the press have actually quoted it as "would not look out of place on quirky pop star Lady Gaga" which gave me a massive buzz as this would be a dream come true.
