Miriam Talisa was named after the famous model Miriam Talisa Soto. A model her parents where obsessed with in the 80s. Talisa, who sometimes goes by Mimi, was born In Boston Mass and raised in NYC. She started modeling when she was 18 years old but her dream has always been to become an actress.
Talisa arrived on Okinawa in 2010. In her first year on island she was featured in the ‘Body Glove’ bikini contest for Fox Channel, the cover of the digital debut of ‘I-Surf’ Magazine for the IPAD, and featured in a Japanese commercial as a reporter.
In 2011 she participated in runway modeling. The proceeds for the events went to support the victims of the Fukushima disaster. She also participated in the ACCO Fashion Walk and Business Trade beauty pageant that went towards supporting local businesses. She has modeled at multiple car shows and has been featured as the female lead in three music videos.
Talisa spent the majority of 2012 in Saint Louis, MO, where she focused on her portfolio and participated in the Paul Mitchel School Hair Show for fashion week and the Paul Mitchel Black Rose Ball before returning to Okinawa for the start of 2013.
