About Me

Hi,

I am an artist who uses photography as their primary medium. I have spent thousands of hours in the studio working on hundreds of shoots, from still life to fashion and everything in between. I am personable, kind, non-judgemental, and give directions well for all skill levels. If you have never modeled before - great! I would love to work with you and help you dip your feet. If you are at the top most experience levels - even better, I hope I can bring a fresh take on you and your body of work and add to a growing portfolio. As the world opens up this spring, lets try something new.

I am doing model casting shoots for a fine art project which is already in progress entitled, "After George Pitts." Images of the human form seen in interesting ways are featured, including images of motion and moderate contortion. This is a nudity optional project, but it is a project about the human body rather than clothing or portraits, so you should be comfortable with a bathing suit and/or plain underwear level of attire for the images. Think Vanessa Beecroft meets an American Apparel. I would request that you bring a few clothing choices from your own wardrobe to the shoot - nothing fancy, bring what you are comfortable in. If you are willing to work with nude or implied nude photography as well that would be an addition to the work. There is a finished bathroom in the studio where you can change privately.

I am very experience oriented for the people I work with. I am specifically concerned with my model’s comfort level at all times. As such, I am uncomfortable about a situation when you are uncomfortable about a situation so before a shoot date is finalized I will ask you if you have any specific respect or comfort level requirements you would like to place upon our work together. No reasonable accommodation will be ignored and, once stated, will be followed "100% no exceptions" before, during, and after shoots.

If you are thinking you want to model for me but are unsure, feel free to message me with all of your questions. I will be happy to answer. I am opening this call up to everyone, regardless of race, size, gender, or sexual orientation provided you mirror the respect I have for you and the process.

Unfortunately this is still a work-for-trade project. Once the film is developed and scanned I will be sending you web-resolution digital files of your images from the shoot with a watermark. Given that I shoot on film, it will be fewer images than usual for a typical model shoot these days, but I can promise you at least 12 images provided no darkroom or camera accidents. You will also be required to sign a standard American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) model release before the shoot can begin. Should you be considering posing nude, I will also need to take a picture of your face holding up your ID which proves that you are 18 years old or older. This image will not be made public under any circumstances and is only for my records and to protect me legally. Unfortunately, that is the law for this kind of artwork.

My studio is in Woodberry, Baltimore in an old mill building. It is safe day or night and there is free parking available on site.

Thanks, I look forward to working with you soon!
Respectfully,
David
