The Book of Life

There is a book of life
Which I hold so close and dear
Hoping that there aren’t any surprises
That I would have to fear

I am the writer the publisher
And the manufacturing company too
We all have our own books
And the title begins with you

My pen is my wisdom
And my paper is my day
When my pen slows down
And my paper just won’t sway
It is then that I am asking God to
Please make a way

My book must be great
For any pages that I hate
I will remove them
And with the tears from my mistakes
Paper mache’ is what I’ll make
To form stronger pages for the oncoming chapters
Because my book my life and my rewards are at stake

The spine of my book is my vertebrate
And I must keep it straight
My cardboard cover covered in leather
Is my birth
And the thick white tread
That pierces through my pages
That binds my book
That keeps my dreams my ambitions my goals
That locks away my sorrow my setbacks my shame my pain
And embraces my life
The thread is my faith

My pen is my chisel
My paper is my rock
What I write is written
What I do is did and can not be undone

I am the Artist
My memories form the colors
Not my imagination
Life provides the brush
That paints the most beautiful illustrations

I am the writer who holds the pen
Who writes the text
Who turns the pages
And with every new chapter my book ages
As the number of years that I live increase
For every verb I must act
For every comma I must pause and cease
After every period there is a new moment
In every sentence I am the subject
And at the opening of every quotation mark
I began to speak

Because I am the writer of my own life
This is my book
Copyrighted and protected by God himself

There are several questions that run through my mind about this book
Will my book be a New York Times Best Seller
Will Dream Works make it a film
Will my book even touch the life of an average man
Or will it just collect dust from a local news paper stand

We are the writers
The publishers
And the manufacturing companies too
We all have our own books
And the title begins with you

When we are done and finished with these books
And they are signed by sincerely yours
We do hope that the next generation will truly enjoy THANK YOU
