About Me

=============================
Need Models and MUAs for Feb/Mar shoot
=============================

Looking for models and make up artists to do T4P shoots. Male and female 16-24-ish. Prior modeling experience is a welcome but not required for this project. These will be primarily head & shoulders, classic portrait type shots. Once I get the shots I need (about 1 hour), I'm willing to take requests and do other shots specifically for you.

These are portfolio shots for me and you'll receive fully retouched copies for your portfolio in return for your time.

The time frame is weekends in late February and early March.

What I have in mind
=============================

I'm looking to expand my photography and retouching portfolio and have some fun in the process. Working directly with clients is fun but limiting. I enjoy the collaboration but want to create images that are less pedestrian, edgier and more artistically driven.

Creating rich, vibrant environmental portraits is my current project. People doing what they do for fun and adventure immersed in the places and trappings of such. I'm happy to entertain requests for specific shots, venues or styles. If it's something I don't have much experience with, I'll probably be motivated to do it.

I have a small studio but will work on location (locally) as often as I can. I'm happy to work with female or male models. As for men, I'm most interested in staged sports, action or works shots. A boxer shadow boxing, A welder / grinder throwing sparks. For women, I imagine the same but with the addition of more passive activities / poses.

I shoot a variety of subjects. Kids, studio and natural light portraits, sports, landscape and still life. Check out my site (http://rodephoto.com) for more examples.

What I need in a model
=============================

Character, expressiveness, attitude.

We all love youth and beauty. I will never turn you away because you are young and attractive. However, that alone does not interest me.

What does interest me is character in your look, style and personality and the *willingness* to express that to the camera. Additionally, come prepared to collaborate. I WANT to hear your ideas. Your input is a critical part of the creative process. For once in your life, your quirky habits, strange ideas, odd clothes and inability to keep quiet are all good.

I read that if you want to take better looking pictures, stand in front of better looking people. Funny, but it does have a grain of truth. I want to make interesting, expressive images. Vapid Barbie clones are not going to get me what I want. I need to stand in front of interesting expressive people, like you!

While working with experienced models is nice, I'm more inclined to stick with new models who want to build their portfolios as well (T for P & T for CD). I'm looking for adult men and women only. I'm not doing any nude or overtly sexual shots, so bring clothes, uniforms, accessories and makeup :)

Will Photoshop for free
=============================

I'm not a professional retoucher but I play one on TV.

Here's the deal. I will retouch your photo FOR FREE if you meet ALL 4 requirements.

1) You must own the image or have the rights to it that allow you to use it for your intended purpose. If you don't have the rights to the image, I'm not touching it.
2) You must grant me the right to include the image in my portfolio. I'm happy to credit the photographer and model.
3) One to a customer, for personal use or portfolio ONLY, while supplies last and I'll get it done as soon as I can but don't expect a rush on free Photoshop magic. My shots and paying customers come first.
4) The image should be reasonably interesting, taken in decent lighting stored in a high resolution file (TIFF, JPG). DNG or RAW from the camera is better.

I'm not going to waste my time on a shot of your cat, 2 stops underexposed, taken with a $50 point and shoot. I can make decent shots good and good shots great but I can't make the Mona Lisa out of macaroni and grass clippings.

DO tell me what you want fixed and DO give me feedback on the work. If you're not happy, even with free stuff, I'm not happy. Tell me and I'll make it look the way you want.

Some things cost money
=============================

If you need professional / commercial retouching or multiple images retouched for personal or portfolio use, you have to pay. Luckily, I work cheap if you're not in a rush and I work fast if you write bigger checks.
