About Me

Hi!

I'm Martin Norrey, now an incredible 45 years old! I had a keen interest in photography from the age of 6! Working with ancient "two and a quarter square" formats back in the late 70's I progressed on to 35mm from the early days and always had a darkroom at home. Starting ESS in 94 with Nick Whiteley precluded photography for some time in favour of World travel in the name of Rocket Science. Since retiring to Portugal from the UK in 2008 I have begun the photographic odyssey that I always intended. In the meantime I have had work exhibited at the RHS show and worked with studio models such as Kate Brox.

I have set up a full studio here at our luxury villa close to the village of Porches in the mid western region of the Algarve. From here I work in all branches of commercial photography and specialize in studio flash lighting.
I like to work in the studio and at beach locations where lighting is good and strong lighting techniques can be employed.

At the studio I have a 6-head flash rig which provides for white-wall fashion work with diffusers but also has flexibility for body-art and high contrast lighting using my snoots and barn-door lights and this is an area that I love to work in.

I provide tuition for new, semi-pro and pro photographers here at the studio and on location and I am always looking for models who want to work in fashion and body art both to expand my own portfolio, the model’s book and to provide subject material for my tuition days.

I run my own web site which has no commercial links, advertising, internal Google searches or any connection with any other commercial organization. The site is simply used to showcase my work and to communicate with like minded members of the photographic and modeling community.

I include a selection of work with various models at StudioLombos here in the Algarve and a photograph of myself with my first film slr the Praktica MTL-3 and my very ancient Leningrad light meter. Needless to say that these days I work in all digital format with Pentax gear and the light meter is a Sekonic.
