About Me

I'm lucky enough to be based in beautiful Cornwall, but with a studio in an artist's group in Exeter, and a range of art nude and commercial work throughout the South and South West. From my first studio in London's Covent Garden way back the early 1970s, I have around 40 years of professional photographic experience. I've got work in the National Portrait Gallery, and I've recently been elected as a member of 'The Guild of Erotic Artists'.

I'm particularly interested in working in Black & White, and exploring the 'boundaries' of fine art nude photography. So I've recently published (July 2013) a book called 'The Edgy Nude', and I'm currently working on a series of Erotic Nude fine art prints.

I love working with people who have a strong awareness of their body, and who are able to bring a sensual element to their poses - my way of working is to build a rapport between model and photographer, so that we create images together as a 'team'. So I love working with dancers, gymnasts, martial arts enthusiasts, as well as anyone (male or female) who has this strong sense of self-awareness.

I don't do 'implied nude', and although a lot of my images are quite subtle, a lot of them can also be quite 'full frontal' - so please don't ask me to work with you if you aren't comfortable with being naked. But I try to be considerate and polite, I have a 'no-touch' rule, and I will never insist on a pose you are not happy with!

TECHNICAL STUFF: I have some important house rules which include: prior agreement on what work we are intending to do at our session; your promise that you will show up on the date (and on time)! A private changing space (dependent on location) and a dressing gown to wear between shots (so you can preserve some modesty); no physical contact between photographer and model; signed model release on the work to be undertaken. If you are under 25 (or look it - lucky you) I will photograph you holding a valid form of photo ID. I rarely work with anyone under 20 and never with a model aged under 18. If I am paying you, payment will be made at the start of the session, and if we are working TF then I will only release fully edited and watermarked images. Because my editing takes a huge amount of time, this can often be weeks after the session. Sorry!

This is quite a revealing genre of photograhy, and I have no problems with natural stretch marks, tattoos, etc. But if you shave, please make sure you are neat and tidy, and if you don't please make sure you are neatly trimmed. I won't work with a model covered in clothing marks (so please wear loose clothes prior to the shoot). I have found that it is impossible to do this kind of work with your partner present (unless they are part of the shoot), but if you are happier with a chaperone we can discuss that. I do want you to feel safe, so I'm always happy with 'check calls' and full details left with a friend.

We will often work in quite challenging locations, so please be prepared for that!

I also welcome the ideas of my models in the development of work, and shots are constantly reviewed and discussed with the model throughout the shoot - I want my models to feel comfortable working with me, and to be a full part of the creative process.

If you want fees, I'll be happy to pay pay fees (within reason, and within reasonable limits). If you would like to pay me to make a portfolio for you, then I we can negotiate. If you'd like TFP or TFCD then of course I'll be delighted. Much of the time, we agree a mix of both, so you get some money and some images, and I get poorer but get some great shots! Win Win!

We also like to have some fun and laughs, and so my sessions are usually pretty relaxed and lighthearted, with your favourite music in the background if you remember to bring it! I rarely work more than four hours because this work is intensive and creatively very demanding.
