About Me

Thanks for visiting my profile.

Here on MM I am looking for models, MUAs, designers and stylists to work together on projects ranging from fashion to beauty to whatever else seems interesting, and to have fun meeting new and collaborating with talented, professionally-minded people.

Currently I am located near Tokyo, Japan, but I travel often and may be able to schedule some shootings while visiting other places and countries, too, with US, Canada, Europe and East Asia on my schedule.

Here on ModelMayhem I am mostly looking for TFCD collaborations where I hope everyone to contribute to as well as to gain from the shooting. In some - increasingly rare - cases I will do paid shootings.

I am not a professional photographer but I love to work hard within the given time and conditions to achieve a result as professional as possible, and my shootings can range from simple natural light shots 1-on-1 with the model, to renting a studio, finding a MUA and stylist, setting up multiple lights and shooting tethered to a large display for immediate checks.

Here's a photo of myself (travelling in Tunesia):

If you are interested in doing any shootings with me, please send me a note!

In case you still want to read more about me: ;-)

Years ago I used to think of myself as a landscape photographer, but started experimenting with studio lighting in the quest for more controlled light, which got me into fashion and then into studio/beauty photography. As a teenager there was a time when I had seriously considered becoming a fashion designer and even use my sewing machine sometimes still, so am interested in clothing design as well.

In my main, paid job, I work as a scientific researcher and human factors/computer graphics engineer in the automotive industry, while going to University (again!) to obtain an phD in Virtual Reality. Although I work professionally with cameras and lighting equipment, I am not and do not aspire to become a professional photographer (some have suggested I could/should, for whatever that is worth...). I love working hard and learning from anyone in order to become as competitive as possible with professionals in anything I do; please have a look at my portfolio and judge for yourself whether you think I am worth collaborating with. :-)

I grew up in Germany and also lived in Vancouver, Canada, for a year, and am fluent in Japanese, German and English; but, recently I haven't had the chance to speak much in English and German though (while I do read and write daily), so I likely need some warm-up to get comfortable speaking again. I do prefer that the model can pose somewhat on her own (after having shared concept/ideas based on inspirational pictures/sketches and photos taken in the shooting) and not require constant guidance.

I don't really expect anyone to read this much, but if you have really read all this stuff - hey, thanks a lot for your interest and time! :-)
