Inspiration is the start of every passion. My passion started as I went to cosmetology school, graduated and landed a job in a small salon sweeping hair and soon after became a hairstylist. I began to look at all the clients and tried to envision how I could transform their look into a style most complimenting to them. So I ventured out after many years of loyalty to my current employer and began my own journey as a self employed hairstylist. Right away I began teaching at seminars, taking on platform work, and eventually I opened up my own salon. Unlike the salon owner I was previously employed with, I was the only stylist in my salon. Throughout the years of perseverance and dedication, I developed a wonderful and very loyal clientele. It was at this point in my career stylist began requesting to be a part of my salon. It’s now thirty years later and I have a two story, 7,000 square foot Beauty Salon and Spa. My Salon has a staff of over 25 talented stylists and an ever growing clientele that have been with me for over 20 years.

Two years ago I became a member of Intercoiffure, the most elite of organizations in the beauty industry. This membership has been an honor and a great success for me and my profession. Intercoiffure has kept my mind sharp and has instilled in me, fresh, new ideas in every way from fashion to styling techniques. What I admire the most about my experiences from joining this team is that it has opened doors to so many opportunities which have added to the progress of my work as an artist. It has also instilled in me an incredible drive for more knowledge, inspiration and excellence in my profession.

Although I am grateful of my achievements, I am driven on a daily basis to accomplish more and to excel to higher levels. I enjoy challenging myself by engaging in fashion shows and competitions to better gauge how my progress over the years is viewed in the beauty industry. This feeds my ambitions and gives me the opportunity to learn more from other remarkable stylists. I am constantly inspired by newly posted styles and ideas that I read about in all areas of our industry. I admire brilliant and successful artists and appreciate their vision and talent in creating glamorous trendy looks and styles. There are many elements to a complete look, such as: treatments, hair color, cut, make-up, clothing, etc. It is every artist’s joy and interest to see a complete look of a complementing transformation come together.

Due to the ever changing styles and talent in the industry there are times where I feel like I have accomplished it all, only to find the industry has changed and moved in a new direction. This motivates me to keep my mind fresh and open to new ideas and techniques to use in my work. It is so important for hairstylists to consider themselves Fashion Artists because hair has everything to do with style and beauty fashion trends. Staying up to date with fashion and trends is a big part of the business and the only way to succeed as an artist.

I love the industry that I am a part of because I love people, and I love the beauty transformation aspect. In my salon, as in many other salons, I deal with all kinds of individuals on a daily basis. I love to instill in them the feeling of beauty, trendiness, and sexiness. There is no greater feeling than to be able to help bring out a new level of confidence in peoples everyday lives.

It’s my belief that as Fashion Artists we need to strive to envision what people’s potential can be and reshape their outer beauty to match that potential. I have also taken the same approach with my salon as I do with my clientele in transforming it into a space of imagination, vision and innovation. It’s this daily and ever changing part of the industry that has given me the drive and insight to be the best Fashion Artist I can be. Not just for me but for the industry, my clientele, employees and my life in personal beauty and fashion care.
