About Me

My name is DRE PITT and Im a Photographer & Filmstudent from Brooklyn NY trying to connect with some young professionals (and I stress the word Professional) on the come up like myself. I Went to Brooklyn Technical High School where I majored in the media arts. I was the Original College Dropout and majored in Film & photography at both Hunter College, and Long Island University before I left.
Dreamlike, moody, dark, sexy, and powerful are some words I have been told describe my style. I love candid shots, being the fly on the wall and catching my subject in their natural element. This Year my goal is to add more irony, comedy, fantasy, and contraversy to my portfolio. My hope is to generate emotion and to always have the viewer FEEL something when looking at my work. Hopefully I can collaborate with some of you on this network, brainstorm with you when necessay and get our vision across to the world. My biggest influences would have to be Gordon Parks for being ahead of his time and being multi talented from photography to film, poetry and more. Anthony Mandler's use of color and style is one of my influences. Mark seliger's has a very refined and clean look and classic style that I am a fan of. Jamell Shabazz's work has also had an influence on my eye for fashion and true trendstetters.
Hype Williams & Spike Lee are the last but probably the MOST influential in my development, by watching their use of bold color that contrast each other and highly stylized work. You combine all of this and there you have (HighSoci80). My goal is to conquer the world of fashion, celebrity, and editorial photography, so lets meet up, brainstorm and MAKE SOME HISTORY.
...Some Dream publications I would like to work for in the world of Photography include: TRACE, Blackbook, FADER, FRANK151, PAPER, and Complex.
