About Me

I am an old style photographer and all my black and white work is medium format film, developed and printed by hand in my darkroom. The copies posted here are from scans of the original black and white prints.
I use different bleaches, toners and darkroom techniques to achieve the effects that you see in those final prints.
Most of my color work is also medium format film developed to disk but the final prints are printed from the computer as opposed to being developed in the darkroom.

I choose to work primarily with black and white film because there's something intensely personnel about hand crafting a print in the darkroom that seems to get lost in the digital world.
And actually I became a good darkroom technician because, in the eyes of other professionals, I would be considered a shitty photographer.
I love to experiment with lighting, exposures and lenses so a lot of my negatives end up over exposed, under developed or a combination of all the above but I find that those "shitty" negatives usually yield the most creative prints.
If I were shooting display or wedding photography it would be tragic but I'm not. My work is done solely for artistic interpretation so, fortunately for me, I have no restrictions on the techniques I choose to use except for my own and I am always looking for different options to try out.

And although I've been in photography for over 25 years I didn't shoot my first nude until 2001 when a good friend offered to model for me. Since then it's primarily what I've focused on and I've been blessed with many many OUTSTANDING models that I've worked with. They are the true beauty of my work and it's always a challenge for me to capture that sensuality and present it in an artistic image.
Although I've not listed any credits here, if you see a link on an image to a model that I've used you can trust that they were a pleasure to work with and I whole heartedly recommend them.

In the past, the prints I produced were offered for sale and thanks to sites like Ebay, to date I've sold over 300 "fine art" prints world wide. In fact many of the images you see here were sold and only exist for me in this digital form.
I stopped selling my work because it's difficult to make a living producing and selling "art" but, thanks to this economy, I've been given another opportunity to give it a go. And I do consider it an opportunity because of all the different mediums I work with photography is by far my favorite.

If you are a model and are open to new ideas, not shy and looking to make a living as a model please feel free to contact me. I'm currently looking for new models, male/female/couples who are willing to work TFP in exchange for beautiful, creative prints and having themselves aggressively marketed. Making beautiful photographs is a wonderful experience but we're all here to make a living as well. With your time and my effort we can do both.

Thank you for viewing my work, hope you like it and I look forward to hearing from you.

"It was truly a pleasure to work with DLA Arts! He made sure I was comfortable through every step of the shoot. He was the perfect gentleman and a gracious host. I felt safe to play and express myself in ways I hadn't expected, and the subsequent shots reflect that! His photographs are stunning, and he truly cares about capturing images of his models in the most artistic, flattering, and beautiful ways. I highly recommend working with him, and look forward to additional shoots in the future!" Read less
