Born and raised in the Southern state of Mississippi, Marianna Massey moved to the West Coast of California after graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Photographic Journalism. Marianna spent a number of years as a staff photographer with The Daily Pilot in Costa Mesa, California, a subsidiary of the Los Angeles Times. From there she moved on to freelance for Southern California publications for two years before joining ZUMA Press in 2001 as a contract photographer based in Los Angeles. Marianna left ZUMA Press in 2007 when she moved to Australia to pursue her photography full-time.

Marianna has also worked with Pulitzer Prize winning sports photographer Rick Rickman on many assignments and for the agency NewSport as a picture editor and photographer for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.

Her fashion, advertising, commercial and stock photography is represented by CORBIS stock market, one of the leading photography agencies in the world (www.corbis.com). She also freelances for Getty Images (www.gettyimages.com) and WireImage (www.wireimage.com), two or the top editorial agencies in the world.

Her work has appeared in many major news magazines, including TIME, Newsweek, VIEW, Vogue, Glamour, Marie Claire and US News and World Report, among others. Her interest in many different photographic subjects has taken her around the world, from Argentina to the streets of Paris. She is currently based in Sydney, Australia.
