I’m an art photographer newly arrived in Asheville. I photograph cemeteries and ruined buildings when I travel, and nudes and portraits at home. I see my figurative work as more akin to "portraiture of naked people" than to classical figure photography or erotic/glamour photography. I have a particular fascination with the androgynous body and with people who present themselves to the world ambiguously.  I've been doing this kind of photography since 1990.

I used to work with Kodak infrared film in 70mm (2-3/4 inch) format. When Kodak stopped making it, I stopped taking pictures for a few years. Recently I had a digital camera modified to take infrared photos, so now I'm back behind the camera and looking for models again. 

In the Santa Cruz CA area, I’ve exhibited my work at the UCSC Lionel Cantú GLBTI Resource Center, the Diversity Center, the Pajaro Valley Arts Council Gallery, and the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center. I’ve also shown my work at Kinoki Foro Cultural in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Mexico (2006). In Portland, Oregon, in the late 1990’s, I exhibited at Omni Gallery and collaborated with other figure photographers as a member of the Galleri 8 and After 8 cooperative galleries. My first show in Asheville was at the Crow & Quill Bar in April 2016. In 2017 I participated in two group shows by members of the Asheville Darkroom cooperative, at Ananda West Salon and Habitat Brewery. In 2018 I had the opportunity to put up a solo show at the Asheville Darkroom's Silverspace gallery, and joined in another group show by Asheville Darkroom members at the Asheville Area Arts Council's Refinery creator space.

I've taught black-and-white darkroom, film photography, and basic digital photography classes during my time in Mexico.
