About Me

From an early age I have been infatuated with movies and the idea of narration. To me photography is just like any other forms of narration, like films or writing. I found myself becoming part of what I was watching, imagining what it was like to be in worlds created in the movie. My imagination ran wild with ideas and I needed an outlet for that creativity and found it through photography. Growing up my father was a photographer and instructor, and my mother an artist, so I always was drawing and had a camera in my hand since a young age.
For me its the idea of capturing one of those moments but in a photograph and the ability to tell my story, leaving the viewer open to interpret their own ending. . It was the movie Nightmare Before Christmas and the visual mastery of Tim Burton that turned me on to photography. Each scene in that movie could stand on its own as a photograph. I am drawn to photography to because the ability to create my own narration through images, to create a world different then the one we live in, I want to create an escape with my work. I find myself making my work violent but serene. I like to see the good and the bad, showing the full spectrum of emotion is important to me. It is important to me to show the grotesque and the sublime, I drive to to create intense narratives with work. I never exactly quite know where I am going with a photograph until I get in the moment. I have a loose structure I lay out but in the end its all about the moment for me.
