About Me

From my experiences traveling the world it seemed to me that many cultures embrace the beauty of aging. This caused me to pause and think about how we might re-conceptualize the ways we capture aging and time in images. The images I create are intended to be close-up and detailed studies of the beautiful in the mundane. They capture what might otherwise go unnoticed in a casual glance. Noticing that "exploding" images on oversized prints offered an intriguing perspective of my subjects, I began to "focus" on the aspect of time and aging, both in natural, and human manufactured environments with my vignettes of texture, color and light.

My work has evolved to points where I attempt to offer both passive and active observers the opportunity to discover a different perspective for any given subject. These works tie closely with themes of time and aging, simple space and elements of earth, whilst incorporating human-made manufactured, urban structures. Working with these subjects, I enter into the old/new dichotomy, attempting to import shades of grey into our tendency to create binary schemes that in turn foster narrow rather than expansive conceptualizations of beauty. Birth, rebirth, and death are processes and my work seeks to capture the idea of transition and change.
