Elan Crawford's performance career was born of deep introspection and good instincts.  Since becoming a single mother at age 17, her sole passion had been raising her daughter.  Along the way, putting herself through college and working to keep all the balls in the air also became important priorities. 

The native Nashvillian probed inwardly to discover a new life purpose when her only child left home for college.  In that blink of an eye that it takes for our children to grow and go, this mother felt a huge void, as if her heart was beating 250 miles away in someone else's body.  With the encouragement of a few friends, Elan began modeling throughout the southeast U.S. 

It was her appearance as Miss December in America's Greatest Inventor, finalist Elaine Fisher Cato's 2004 Tennessee Intellectual Beauty Calendar that launched her performance career.  Elan was discovered by Nashville filmmaker William Jenkins, who offered her a film role in the gritty, urban trilogy Generational Curses, (Tweet, 2009). 

As she evolved as an entertainer and commercial voice over talent, she found herself in production on three projects simultaneously, Baba King, Robin's Nest Theatres' Gorgeous, and Flenory Productions Generational Curses.  Driving home in the wee hours one morning  after eight hours at her day job and another eight hours of filming Elan realized she wasnt tired at all. In fact, her head was in the clouds simply because her director had said two words: Good work. 

She was hooked. The exhilaration she felt at that moment was priceless and worth whatever sacrifice she had to make to feel that high again and again. 

Other film roles came her way in Gulag Film's Baba King (Mama, 2007), TMac Productions The Cross Bone Click (Sinsational, 2009) and Yake Films Who Loves Judas (Katrina, 2009).

Knowing that she had already accomplished her lifes greatest work raising and educating a happy, gifted, well-adjusted and successful child she immersed herself in acting, spoken word and other performance arts with the abandon of someone with nothing to lose.  After all, she had already excelled in the most important role she would ever play mother.

A strong character actor with an expressive face and luxuriant voice, Elan has appeared in ten independent films, in addition to calendars, commercials, music videos, and a host of stage productions.  She earned her first rave review (Nashville Scene, July 2008) for her performance as Lady Capulet in Tennessee State University Summer Stock Theatre production of Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet.

She recently completed work on her ninth and tenth films, Redemption Road" and "A Pure Country Gift", both slated for release in 2010.
