About Me

With a long personal history of problem skin and learning from makeup mistakes, I started A Beautiful Education in March 2008. I trained locally in Fashion & Photographic Makeup at the School of Makeup Art Technology in Tauranga, then set up a business to provide professional makeup services alongside unbiased beauty advice with no expectation or requirement to purchase product.

Once I planned to train as a teacher. Now I use my hunger for knowledge and truth in the world of beauty, offering interactive makeups consultations with a focus on practical solutions. Through A Beautiful Education I give professional, smart and curious women ʻthe smarts to use cosmetics with confidence.ʼ

My makeup style is naturally glamourous with a touch of high fashion. I brings my expertise to the wedding industry, provide makeup for commercial and business purposes (Film/ TV, advertising and business headshots) and work with individuals wanting to refresh their self-image.

So having had an (unfortunately) early start with makeup, I know how to cover, conceal, camouflage and diminish, but as a professional makeup artist I add to those foundational skills the ability to enhance, contour and create.

As a makeup coach I help women discover the makeup colours and techniques that work for THEM. My aim is to put the transformative power of the makeup artist into the hands of everyday women so they become their own beauty experts.

As a makeup artist one of my main assets is my understanding of colour theory and the 4 colour 'seasons' - the system every top style/image/colour consultant uses. Using hues and shades from the model's best colour 'season', I create a look that sits well on her, enhances her best features, and the final result feels complete and draws you in.

Alternatively, I invert these principles to create contrasting looks for avant garde or high fashion shoots.
