40-year-old supermodel Christy Turlington stars for YSL and fronts Bally this year. Pop icon (now 50) Madonna returns for a second season as the face of Louis Vuitton.

Olay has chosen Twiggy (at 60) to represent their beauty campaign again this year, twenty years after she originally did in the 80 and Pringle has just announced 49-tear-old actress, Tilda Swinton, will replace Pixie Geldof and Daisy Lowe in their next campaign.

Elle asked why is the fashion industry embracing older models?

The magazine noted the significant the impact on sales of Vuitton bags with Madonna’s endorsement and the enduring appeal of iconic role models such as Twiggy, Turlington and Swinton.
