About Me

Photography is a spare time hobby and passion for me.  I am in this for the sake of the art and not necessarily to make bank, although if that ever were to happen I wouldn't say no to it.  Regardless, I consider myself an amateur who hopes to further his knowledge/experience by meeting and working with amateurs and professionals alike on this site and others.  I tend to work outdoors -- I love the idea of using any available surroundings as a potential backdrop.  I love to shoot both in color and in black and white.  I love the realistic look and feel of film, but now finally have entered into the digital realm.  I will continue to use both formats.  I also do not tend to use photoshop and the like for anything more than a tiny touch-up or crop.  I live and work in Washington, DC but am not completely unwilling to travel to accomodate a potential project.  Anyone can best contact me through email -- [email protected]  The bottom line is this -- photography is something that I never thought I would ever be able to do, but through the compliments and confidence instilled by many friends I have endeavored to give it a try.  I hope that you like what you see!

At the behest of a new found friend, I will tell you about a chapter in my life.  At age 10 I was diagnosed with a malignant Cancer.  I spent almost 3 years fighting in and out of the hosptial undergoing various operations, chemotherapy and radiation treatments.  Through the countless thoughts and prayers of so many and the dedicated, endless care I received while in the hospital I began my remission on July 1st, 1987.  Feeling the need to give back what I received, I obtained my BSN, RN in '97 and have worked in a non-profit medical and recovery facility for the homeless here in DC for the past 10 1/2 years.  The photography I do in my spare time allows me to show an artistic side of me that I still don't believe exists.  Thanks to all who continue to support and encourage me to further study and practice the art.
