At 20 I developed my first roll of film in my parents upstairs bathroom. The lights were shut off all through the house and a friend of mine sat with me, as we clumsily wound the film onto reels and placed them in the light safe canister. The chemical funk clung to our noses and we gasped for air while pouring stop bath. It was hot, it was late, it was a major hassle. But there is a distinct moment I can recall, when I saw the first glimpse of my first exposure on the negative, I fell in love. It was irrevocable. From vision to negative to print the art of photography caught me by the mouth, and by the heart. So, in an effort to reacquaint myself with modern times, I have been using digital photography as my medium. My eye lies within the gritty and the grainy, the beauty beside the ugliness, the heart pounding shameless and aimless and anything -less in between.
