My name is Julio Jimenez, I am an editorial photographer based in the Houston area, where I live with my wife and daughter. My background is in newspaper work, mostly with the East Valley Tribune newspaper located in Mesa, Arizona. I was a staff photographer for four years and a digital imager for three. While at the Tribune I contributed to the Pulitzer Prize winning series “Reasonable Doubt”. The series examined Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s enforcement of illegal immigration laws. Previous to that I freelanced in the Houston area, mainly for the Thisweek section of the Houston Chronicle. I attended San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas, where I studied journalism and photography.
Working in newspapers has exposed me to many kinds of assignments, each with their own set of challenges. When taking on an assignment as big as the Super Bowl or as simple as a portrait, I treat each assignment with the same enthusiasm. Please contact me so we can discuss your photography needs.
