About Me

Rhett Rebold uses photography, digital imagery, photogravure, and video as primary tools of expression. He is inspired and influenced by the art of the surrealists Man Ray and Rene Magritte and the modern Czech photographer Jan Saudek.  His imagery is an evolving visual language; it sometimes communicates questions, a sensual charge, ideas, or humor.  Many of Rhett's strongest pieces have been the result of detailed planning combined with spontaneous experimentation. Drawn to figurative work, Rhett enjoys the very essential collaboration between model and photographer. 

He has lived for extended periods in Hawaii in the Washington DC area and in Virginia Beach, VA. While on Maui, he studied Surrealist and fashion photography with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition photographer artist Tom Sewell and the photogravure process with Lothar Osterburg. In Prague, he studied figurative photography and lighting in the studio with Philippe Bricart. Currently in the Hampton Roads area, he continues to search for the unusual.
