Martin Ontiveros Photographer

Educated at the Universidad Nacional de Artes Plásticas in Mexico, Martin Ontivero’s major in Visual Arts required that he take classes in all mediums, but he always knew that Photography was his passion.



Now, Martin is a freelance photographer who has 12 years experience in over 10 countries.  He has photographed everything from wildlife and nature to fashion and candid everyday people. Most of his work has been focused on capturing outdoor adventures, tourist destinations, fashion narratives and historic sites. He has also been hired as a freelance photographer for El Heraldo de Mexico, the biggest paper in Mexico, as well as The Los Angeles Times, El Mundo (Barcelona) and the city of Cancun, where he started his photographic career in 1996.
Since boyhood, Martin has had a passion for observing and recording the natural world and the people who inhabit it. During his teenage years, his interest in people and the wild was a consuming one, but it would be 8 years later before he picked up a camera in order to combine all of his interests into and express them through photography.
During the intervening years, Martin worked in various outdoors sports related jobs such as water sports and rock climbing.  He was attracted to these careers because they were risky and dangerous.  They also taught him, first hand, how to capture the intense beauty of man in the outdoors.  Later, as Martin matured, he developed techniques for portraits and weddings while living in Chicago, Boston and Miami.  This subject of photography gave him an even deeper love of capturing people in candid environments that were just as intense as the outdoor sports ones, but in a very different way both emotionally and contextually.
Today, Martin devotes more time to landscape, wildlife and fashion photography.  He particularly takes advantage of the Los Cabos area and principally along the varied coastline and in the mountains of Mexico’s East Cape and Pacific Side.
