Hey Suga,

I'm Karla K. and I am brand spanking new to modelmayhem.  I'm here for networking and when photoshoots come around, finding my top models. 

I have always loved working with my hands and creating. My parents were always big supporters of that. When I was 11, my mom let me draw on the walls in the house, saying if we are going to have any art in the house it might as well be from our child. When I was 16, Dad enlisted me in his car dealership pulling out dents and repainting (body work) cars, saying it was to work on my sculpting skills.
But I always had a passion for fashion. At first it started by taking a pair of jeans and embellishing them with paint and rhinestone, then I would take a shirt and cut the sleeves off and sew new ones on, then it progressed to teaching myself how to sew making whole outfits from scratch. My friends liked my style and wanted things for themselves and soon I was taking orders from complete strangers. Till finally I said to myself, I can make a living doing what I love. I quit my job and started my own label, all my designs are handmade in the USA by me, I call it my Labor of Love, Love Karla K.

I always like to design clothing that remind me of certain other things or evoke certain feelings.  Like my "Tribal Call Dress" reminds me of the 70's when the style was to wear ethinic prints or "Domo Kimono" which makes me think of the movie "Memiors of a Geisha".  As you can see I am inspired by all that's around me, so there's no telling what I am going to design next....
