Use the "browse" feature to search for a photographer near you. Pay for some images and you will do well.

Like Mark said... Search NYC in Mayhem for Photographers near you...
Ask if they would like to collaborate on "Test" imagery.
If no interest then put out a Mayhem Casting Call advertising what you would pay for initial images for your book.
