Living in the largest but most isolated area of Florida has made it a challenge for finding models. It is a very conservative area and many woman leave when they can.

I did just run my first IG ad and it was very inexpensive. I got 307 impressions in two days and only a few views. I was able to target just the audience I wanted and where I wanted. It just a test advertisement and I do plan to update it.

Besides IG, are they are any other websites that I should use for paid advertising? I am doing TFP.

I have seen ads/postings on Craigslist under the arts section in community as well as in the "gigs" section for both models looking to work as well as photographers looking for models. I don't know how well it works though. I've only used it once to find a model and that was like 5-6 years ago (I haven't looked much there to find them, or tried to post myself).

So, a few months ago you chose to self publish an article bagging on “The games TFP models play” and even promoting it on this site.

https://deanlautermilch.com/the-games-t … dels-play/

A now you are looking for ways to advertise to get more TFP models.

And…you “Don’t mix money and photography” but you’re willing to spend money to advertise to bring in models who are willing to work for no money.

CL is a mixed bag.  Sometimes I get lots of good replies, but more often than not, especially lately, almost nothing.
Lots of replies, but none are legitimate.  About 80% of the latest replies have been from catfish (usually masturbating pubescent boys or lonely old men living vicariously online as an attractive woman).  They're usually the easiest to figure out because they'll immediately turn the conversation into something sexual.

Then you have to deal with all the jealous people, competitors, and douchebags that flag the post for no reason.

A few months ago I put up a great ad that continued getting good, legit replies.
After the ad 'got old' and toward the bottom of the page I renewed it and immediately got flagged.

The problem with getting flagged is that if you try to place a similar ad it will often automatically get flagged, or at least make it for a few minutes before it gets flagged by someone because the flag threshold for that ad was lowered.

CL is able to monitor the words in the ads, as well as the posters email address and phone number.   After ads are flagged it becomes much more difficult to post an ad for that reason.

The problem you are having is that your living in rural area. I am lucky to live in a market with many possibilities. I often travel to Tampa and Orlando. There is always a meet or two every month and from there I get to meet models that I later work with. Most meets are on fb user groups, some on meetup site, and few on ig. I no longer do CL. It is a very sketchy site. MM is more about money nowadays.

Dean, aren't you the king of TFP? I seem to remember your self published article ..

Anyway, I let it be known that I pay models, and don't seem to have any issues with finding them.  There are photographers and models using Instagram, Facebook, and even Tik Tok I suppose with various rates of success.  It so happens that I use many various social media platforms myself, yet will not be leaving Modelmayhem anytime soon. Location and ones attitude are important.

I decided out of curiosity to post on Reddit a similar question to yours as to where people are finding models to work with.  Reddit by the way is gettiing huge traction as the place to go for very active forums to post and comment in.  So to my surprise in a forum used by millions in "Photography" alone .. I only received 2 legit comments.  a third was offensive as to what I wanted to do with models or some such crap.  The two comments came from two photographers on here who said that they are successfully using Modelmayhem to find models.  Apparently they do not read the forums.

Part of the reason CL might be a mixed bag for finding models: it's pretty sketchy.  The last two ads I replied to were from individual artists who wanted pornographic stuff.  One wanted me to hold a mid-intercourse pose with a female model for an hour while he drew us both.  And it was going to be TFD (time for drawing).  The other had his setup in a hotel room and wanted to photograph closeups of me ejaculating on a bed.  The ads themselves provided no hints of this.

I'm not against erotic work if it's legitimately artistic but those both set off plenty of warning flags and I stayed well away.

It's been three years since I last found what I'd consider a legit ad on CL.  But I haven't had much luck elsewhere either...

I've got a couple of different projects coming up.

One of them is a photo travelogue similar to the popular YouTube series "Wonderhussy Adventures" where we travel to cool and unusual places in and around southern NV that most locals don't even know about. The offer was geared more to influencers and bloggers that needed content to keep their audience, but it would have been good for some models too.

Ads were placed here in the casting calls section, CL, and even a European modeling site that has a few members in the Las Vegas area.  I listed the casting call twice on both MM and CL, once on the European site.

MM results: 0
CL results:  12 'catfish' or other crazies,  1 legitimate response (who I'll be doing a shoot with)
The European site:  3 (two of the replies were from Europeans that are coming to LV and 1 was a local that I'll be working with).

At least one other model that I've met last year through MM but also has a listing on the European site will also be doing a shoot.

It's disheartening to think that I can't find anyone through MM, but had no problem finding models via a website that mostly has members on the other side of the world.

My recent experience trying to book models:

I’ve gotten some very affordable models on Craigslist, (who might have accepted TF.),  though I get a notably lower response than in past years.   I expect I’ll run into flagging or this will dry up in the near future.   There are only a few local models on MM these days. They rarely log in and have never replied to messages.   I’ve connected with models on instagram but never in my area and no resulting shoots.   Even traveling models via MM are fairly rare, but there are several opportunities a year, but of course they seek far more than local talent and TF is out of the question.

My experience lately is that CL is still the best place to go, by far, for TFP models. I belong to several FB photographer/modeling communities and even in there, response to any casting calls is very minimal. I spend 5 bucks on a craigslist ad and I'll get 20 responses in an hour for the same project.

The secret to getting models through the FB communities is by making up the name of an obviously fake magazine and saying the shoot is for the magazine.

From what I've seen there's droves of wannabee models that somehow will believe they'll get rich and famous by posing for the fake publication.  Of course, most of the models that reply "interested" are "models" I wouldn't want to shoot with in the first place but a few seemingly decent ones pop up now and then.

Sadly, you are 100% correct. I'm always amazed at how people just drool over being "published" in a magcloud rag that nobody outside of the friends and family of those in it pay to actually get the thing.
