Hello, I've booked a nude model to shoot with an oily body. Ordinary baby lotion like Johnson & Johnson has a fragrance which we don't want. Can anyone recommend an alternative that is fragrance free and looks good on skin?
Many thanks.

I use coconut oil.

Does have a fragrance -- but a very nice one.

I use olive oil, or coconut oil.  We put it on wait a minute or so then wipe off. For a dull sheen

i have used a 50/50 mixture of glycerin and water. If you spray it on, you will get that beaded look.

That's my preferred method, too. But if the OP just wants a glistening skin without the beaded sweat look, just an application of glycerin will do nicely.

Glycerin washes off very easily.

Coconut oil is a good alternative to baby oil and will provide a dull sheen and not a greasy wet look like baby oil.

To those who have suggested glycerin, where do you buy it? I've looked in my local drugstore and haven't found it there.

Either Houston-area drugstores are slacking off or you're not looking very hard. In WA and CA, I've found glycerin in every drugstore I looked in. Large chain or mom-and-pop. I haven't seen a Walmart that didn't carry it in the pharmacy section.

I just saw it in a spray container (like PAM) in the baking supplies section of my local supermarket.
OOPS, that was coconut oil, not glycerin. (sorry, getting punchy in my old age)

Thanks everyone for your replies. I’ll try and hunt down some glycerin 🙂

Glycerin is usually near the bandaids at your local drugstore or pharmacy.

Walmart pharmacy has it, usually on the bottom shelf.

Don't understand the glycerine suggestion at all.
I tried it, it dried out and gave the model no sheen or shine and was very sticky, like having sugary juice dry up on you.

Glycerine with WATER sprayed on top will give the beaded wet look.
But that is different than just the oiled shine/sheen, not everyone wants the 'beaded sweat' look, that's good for outside and athletics.

So far have not found good replacement for baby or coconut oil, both seem to dry up very fast and have to be reapplied so frequently it becomes annoying and interrupts the shoot.

Neutrogena Sesame Body Oil is easy to use, gets absorbed into the skin, and smells great.  Add water over for a stronger look. Available at any drugstore in the moisturizers.

Mineral oil won't have a smell.  Not sure if it would last longer than baby or coconut oil, but I'm guessing it would.  It might be harder to wipe off when done, though it would come off in a shower.

I'm okay with baby oil, as long as it's responsibly sourced  tongue

My oil of choice is something called Vaseline cocoa body gel. It’s smooth, not too slick, not slippery or greasy. It gives a nice sheen, absorbs easily, and doesn’t stain. Best of all, there’s also generic brands of it sold at any pharmacy section or drugstore. There’s little difference in quality. It’s not coconut oil, but coconut oil is also notoriously slick and greasy.

This is based on also doing massages and trying out dozens of oils. Avocado, grape seed, almond oil, coconut oil, etc. those are all nice, but they make a mess. This stuff absorbs into your skin, so after 20-30 min you may need to reapply. But I’ve been using it on many of my shoots, and it gives me a nice, natural looking gloss.

Or you can try synthetic motor oil which I’ve not yet lol.
