Looking for more similar pictures like these. Preferably on MM to add to my list or more of a Painter at work perspective.

How is the paint made or what is purchased as the paint for this project? I can tell it’s not exactly paint but a mixture or something. Makeup artists probably recognize since it has a runnier water consistency that regular Painters paint doesn't have. And, it's easier to remove / wipe, splash, and it is a safer option.

Maybe it's acrylic or tempera paint artists use in art.

If interested in collaborating I'm in Miami.

I am a professional painter wanting to do a picture wearing painters apparel. Probably all whites and having paint splashed to create similar to these pictures:

Would prefer using various colors. Maybe around the place too.

We created a video called  "Every Body Equal" where body paint was throw, squirted, splashed, and rolled onto lots of nearly naked bodies of all sizes, shapes and color.   I was a still photographer and drone camera operator

Do not, I repeat do *not*, use real or craft paint of any kind for a project like this. These products are not safe for, nor meant for, the body. You risk being sued if a model has a reaction or some splashes in their eyes.

The liquid is not entirely opaque, as you can see in the last close up you posted. Simply using milk and food coloring would work fine. For more opacity you can add cornstarch to water, whisk in well, and add to the milk mixture. Be sure to check with your model about sensitivity to dyes and food allergies first.

Body paint would be safe for the skin, but not the eye/face area when you're splashing it about. It could also get terribly expensive when you're looking at that kind of volume, even if you used a cheaper version such as Mehron or Ben Nye's Liquid Face & Hair Color.

Agree with above. The *paint* in the examples is translucent, so experimenting with tinted milk might be the best place to start. Professional grade gel food colors will give you a good color pay off. For example:

Or, get a Michaels 40% coupon and try the Wilton colors. (Not as potent, but should get you a good start on testing...)

Say NO to craft or any *non-toxic* paint UNLESS it is specifically designed for body paint.

And, pigment in the eyes is VERY problematic - especially if it is a red. Not to mention if the model wears contacts....

I also suspect that the color intensity has been nudged up to 11 in photoshop....

The only one off shot I've done with paint.. and it was the models idea to do this shot..

We used 'Art minds' paint from Michaels, watered down 50/50, and washed the model off immediately after the dozen or so images to get this shot..

A lot of the splashes in images like these just aren't real. Sometimes they are, but its risky and time consuming. They're not throwing paint, milk, anything into a models open eyes and magically NOT just covering their face/geting it in their eyes/open mouths/ etc, its digital. The models might be first splattered in paint, coloured water, liquid latex, whatever, but a bucket of the stuff isn't *usually* getting tossed in their face while they give sexy open-eyed, open-mouthed looks to the camera. You really only get one shot at doing it right if you do it that way, and you risk really screwing up your models eyes. Evidently the person in the example did take that approach, but thats not terribly common (outside of amateur MMers who see something cool in a fashion spread and think they know how to recreate it at home)

A lot of Body Paint images these days are not makeup at all but good old photo manipulation. Still body paint would work but yep there's that in the eye factor of any product thrown.

Having watched the videos what would you say they used or could that be manipulation?

I never assume that just because it's on reality tv that they used cosmetic grade paint.

That being said, there is a good likelihood that a cosmic company sponsored the bodypaint - which is how they can afford to have gallons of the stuff.

The liquid could be something like BenNye's Magicolor or a similar water based body paint.
Take a look at a site like www.sillyfarm.com for an overview what professionals use.

The model is closing her eyes in the one segment so there is some post at play. And even with cosmetic grade body paint, getting that stuff in the eyes can be anything from annoying to posing a threat of permanent damage to the eye.

In addition, this thread has had some great suggestions for you.
