newbie here! and I think I'm getting scammed....?
A model messaged me saying that her agent has a paid and published gig for a make up line, although the model's page says she's independent. I contacted him and talked to him on the phone and he just rambled on about their casting in Atlanta and they would pay for everything and I could bring an escort but didn't really tell me anything about the make up company. I emailed him to ask if he could send me information about the company but he said to sign the confidentiality agreements, release forms and a model worksheet which asks for my social security number and then we'll talk. The weird thing is his website - http://www.fmgfinancial.com. I just feel like this is a fake website. I also feel like the CEO of the financial company funding the makeup line would not be directly contacting me but I'm a newbie so I could be wrong. I looked up the website on the BBB and they said that there's no registration/proper address for the business and told the business owner that he has to send paperwork backing up the false advertising clams on his website - they noted that business owner replied that he's not going to do that. I guess writing all of this I should just know that this is probably fake, I just wanted to get people's opinion before I shut it down. if he is a fake, dontcha think he should get investigated? could be a dangerous situation. Aug 30 15 01:59 pm Link Yeah, I think you can rest assured that is a scam. On the other hand, your portfolio says you will be getting good legitimate bookings in no time. Aug 30 15 07:39 pm Link Cole, the normal mode of operation for these types of scams are to send a fraudulent check. You deposit the check. After you deposit the check you will be instruct to wire some of the money to, in this case a make-up artist and/or company, to reimburse some cost. The original check will bounce and your money will have already been cashed. These scams originate out of check cashing places equipped with Western Union. American banks are well aware of these types of scam. I strongly recommend not to have any further correspondence with these people. Do not send any personal information. Contact your financial institution immediately if you believe that your banking account has been compromised. Aug 30 15 07:50 pm Link Sounds like a phishing scam, but IDK.
