My profile clearly states my stance on escorts, models can decide for themselves if they choose work with me based on it. Simple as that

I also have zero tolerance towards working with models who have fear of me.  The problem is that hardly any one has fear of me.  At times, I hire security guards for events like car shows for the models benefit.  There are times when I like to have an assistant for either myself or the model.  Make up artists are also a benefit I enjoy!  Most of all, I am thrilled when I have paying spectators who watch the model and myself work.  Not all the models I've worked with are as confident in front of an audience as I am though.

Anyway, I check references, and communicate as extensively as necessary for models to feel completely comfortable in working with me.  My flake rate is below 5% ... and we almost always have a great time!  Photography and modeling should be fun!  It certainly is for me and those I work with!  smile

A mum at the beach with a 19 year old does not bother me at all.  Most of the models I work with could easily kick my ass ... I was already kidnapped by a so called "model" and her female escort in 1992.  The problem back then was I met them at a nightclub without checking them out. They had fake id's and I was stupid ... naive back then.  I have learned that taking time to build trust is the best way to have a great working relationship between models and photographers.

Chances are that the mom will be a way better model than the daughter.

No, it does not matter.  Seriously, it does not matter!

Escort threads ... like James Bond ... they never die!  wink

But why does it to you?

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes, the OP is new to the forums, and the question asked by the OP is as ancient as the Earth itself. ... at least it seems that way.  I did not mean that the OP's question was "horseshit" ... but I meant to direct it at salvatori, who is certainly NOT new here, and should know better than to call other peoples opinions "horseshit"   I know that salvatori was directly his own "horseshit" opinion at someone else, not the OP.   I would never tell anyone that there is a right or wrong way of dealing with the issue of having other people commonly called "escorts" at photo shoots.  The reason that this topic comes up so often on the forums is that there is no right or wrong answer.  It is completely subjective and up to the photographer to decide.   I happen to allow some people to be guests at my photo shoots, but not everyone,

Patrick,

Yes, I suppose I kneejerked my thoughts, but as you stated, I didn't direct that at the OP, and I am just sick and tired of (after shooting over 200 models over the past 30 years and never molesting one of them!) that this attitude towards photographers is so rampant.

The fact is, that simply because I don't want to have a model's mother at a shoot doesn't qualify me as a pervert.

IMHO

And just as the fact that you do not allow Escorts at your shoots does not make you a Pervert, that some people do allow Escort at their shoots does not make them wrong for doing so as suggested by some of the "professional" photographers on this site!

Yeah, I already apologized for my initial reaction. Please quote my entire reply the next time.

You're kidding right? Never prevent a model from bringing a chaperone. That person is there for the model's comfort, not yours. Even if it is the mom. Mom has been around long enough to know to stay out of the way I bet. And it will create an atmosphere with the model that brings about a much better experience for the both of you.

That and shit floats.

I'd tell her that wasn't the deal, and if she isn't comfortable going without her mother, you will find another model.

I just had a 20 year old that pursued working with me on multiple projects block me on FB in the middle of a conversation because she was insisting that she bring her mom along for a test shoot. I offered the test because she wanted to shoot nudes and had no nudes to show me.

She said she would not shoot nude without a chaperone. I replied "Do they have to be in the room standing over me?" And she blocked me. Funny becuase the shoot was for Lingerie and implied and she offered to shoot nude. But honestly having someone's mother standing over my shoulder why shooting them nude creeps me out...

80% of the time when someone brings someone to the shoot it ruins the shoot in my experience. My best work has been with me and the model one on one even if using a MUA I keep them in the next room. If I use an assistant that I bring that also has worked out well. So now I don't allow escorts, boyfriends, best friends or mothers on shoots, if I'm paying or if it's TF. It just not worth the waste of time and a botched shoot.

And to the person that said mothers stay out of the way... The is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. Mothers are the worst. They are over protective, scrutinize everything. Every hear the term "stage door mother"? I was raised by one so I know exactly what it means.

On a side note I had a model I shot last week and she wanted to bring a girl friend that I had already met when I met the model. I said know because the other girl needs constant attention, is kind of clumsy and I could see it was a disaster waiting to happen. The model said "No Problem smile" So we shoot for about 6 hours and the time flew by we were super productive, had a blast, we both laughed so much that our faces hurt. And we both love the pictures and were going to do a second shoot!

But had I let the friend come I'm sure would have killed the dynamic and ruined the shoot.

From now on it's my way or the highway. My attitude is that if you like my work then respect my creative process because that how I'm creating what it is that you like. If they are not compatible with that no problem we don't shoot.

OMG yea, the "pussy protectors". I had one a few years ago, she started playing art director, and I finally said, butt out, this isn't your shoot. In the OP's case it's the fact that she is trying to throw this wrench in the fan last minute.

In the long list of reasons why it's bad idea, this is another one that I agree with.
