Interesting and artistic ideas for poses or settings, something a bit different perhaps than everyone else is doing at the time.

I am inspired by something that has some thought put into it. I love Guy Bourdin, Cheyco Leidman, Norman Parkinson, There is a process going on in their images that so many photographers are not willing to pursue. Very frustrating a lot of the time. smile

For reals though. Except a check ain't nothing compared to cold, hard cash.

Honestly though: other models. Other women who have decided that this life suites them. They're talented, beautiful, driven, and have a certain sense of self, plus we're all a little crazy. Each model is so unique in her approach, in who she is and how she found this path through life. I love getting lost in a model's portfolio and feeling like I know her, at least, in some small way. It helps me believe in myself, and inspires me to continue pose and discover who I may become.

my childhood dreams. it sounds corny but i like to think about when i felt invincible and had dreams of growing up to be a model. (as well as a princess, super saiyan and an astronaut.)

Chocolate.

With my cameras, great locations.  And then a model to merge into the scenery.

The models I work with.  I try and use their stories and other things we speak about to create new images.  If I used only what is in my head my pictures would represent nothing except pizza and daddy issues.

The question is not "... what inspires [me] to work with a model?".
It's just a creative outlet for me.
The question is "What inspires me to create a good image?".  The answer is "the model herself".  Def her physical beauty, personality, and her words.

The cut of her jib, lol.

It's usually the look in her eye, as depicted in her photos to date. Windows to the soul, as they say, and - after all - aren't photographers considered soul thieves by some North American First Nations peoples?

So many things inspire me. I would photograph every inch of the world and all the people and creatures in it if I could!

For my work shown here on MM it either goes two ways. 1) I have an idea I want to bring to life like in my avi. I wanted to try some creative makeup and styling and found the perfect face to play with. Or 2) I find the model then the ideas come like in this one: http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/ … 7bn23w.jpg
Hex has this insanely incredible and unique body that I wanted to showcase.

When I shoot reference images to use either for painting or sketches the one thing that inspires me to want to work with a model is emotion. Just about everything I do is based in developing a character with in the concept. A model that has the ability to portray her emotions and give life to the concept makes the end result personal and brings it to life.

The opportunity to transcend everyday consciousness through artistic creation, to set life's horrors aside for awhile and - with undivided attention - acknowledge beauty and the importance of its appreciation to civilization, to shrug off the yoke of mundane reality and spend a little time in Heaven while I'm still alive in the company of another angel. xo

To be completely honest... I'm an attention whore. big_smile

But also: other artists in every discipline, my miserable past life as a corporate attorney, my love of media and culture, the talented and giving photographers I've learned from, the people I love, my parents' gift (and curse) of never being satisfied with myself, and anyone out there grinding to be the best they can be at whatever it is they do... all these things inspire me.

From a male perspective, negotiating the medium between femininity and masculinity within me, and how that defines my work.
