You need a different avatar. You have a great portfolio but your avatar is likely to turn people away, it doesn't do anything for you

Hi Jeff,

Just wanted to speak on one little thing I saw. I noticed you have it written about prices available upon request in your profile, but it may be more of a benefit at this moment to build up your portfolio doing trade first. Show them all the awesome work you can offer! smile

The photo set that your avi is from is way too heavily retouched. The lack of texture in your skin makes it look like you have something to hide which obviously isn't the case since in this snapshot (Which is much more flattering overall. You have a great face) your skin doesn't look blurred and it looks like you have pretty nice skin.

Editing snapshots makes it look like you're trying to hide something and you don't need to do that because you have a very pretty face.

No critique here - you're  m u c h  better than I am.

The only thing I could say is... I'd use a different image as an avatar?

Perhaps one of these:

I would only say if you aren't trying to specialize in b&w then you could put some color photos in, but that's just nit picking I loved looking at all of your pictures my favorite was this one:

A lot of your images have the same feel, try doing something a little out of your comfort zone.

I like that you captured movement in a few shots.  I'd add more photos as there are not many posted.  You might also consider adding more location shots like this.  Just make sure you crop enough to keep the focus on the clothes and the model.

Your photos are generally all very good. One aspect that I'm not too fond of: the lighting. In some photos the models look very washed out, or the editing/effect makes them look really light colored. Perhaps try a few other lighting techniques!

You are a great model and I love your pictures. My only critique is that I wish you had some photos unedited/touched as natural as possible....I know thats ironic coming from a digital artist whose favorite thing to do is re-touch and edit photos....lol

Love your colorful images and unique fun concepts (which I don't expect at all from your avatar- Might be time to change it)!

Love your current avatar to death! I think some of your portfolio pictures aren't contributing much, though. Perhaps it's time to switch them out?

Annie, it looks like I see a photo or two of less touched/edited and I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!

My only critique now, assuming you want to call it one, is get out and work more because I look forward to watching you thrive wink

My biggest critique of your work is that much of it comes off like snapshots that are supposed to seem "arty" because you pumped up the contrast and added artificial vignettes.  For example:

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140317/22/5327dfd7a0fe4_m.jpg

Not a very compelling image, but it almost seems as if you think that it's made better by some cheesy post-processing.  Concentrate more on lighting, composition, and concept, and less on adding vignettes in Photoshop.

I like your framing and use of lighting, especially incorporating shadows to help add texture to the overall art piece and turning models into shadows themselves.

I really like the diversity in your portfolio.  I's not just variations on the same look.  Keep stretching yourself artistically.  Very nicely done.

Thank you! I definitely am trying to diversify even further and push for more artistry.

Your use of color is magnificent. Everything just clicks well with each other, from the excellent and beautiful talents to the composition and lighting, the use of shadows. Even what may seem low key has a vibrancy that keeps you engaged.

I love the intense presence you have in front of the camera and you emoting body language with your poses. On the flip side, having a variety of emotions would be beneficial and round out your abilities. Great portfolio and impressive.
