Welcome to MM.  As far as getting shoots, find a few photographers in your area and ask if they would be interested in shooting with you.  If you were closer to me, i'd for sure shoot with you.  I don't think you'll have a problem finding a photographer near you.

Welcome!
Make the browse page your very best friend.  It will help you find awesome photographers in the area.  Their profiles should say weather or not they will shoot TFP/CD.  You may also want to post in the Casting Calls forum.  May help. . .may not.

I would suggest using Browse page and get emailing.  The more you email, the more you get yourself out there and you may get a few photographers to agree to shoot.  They're usually very nice.  Look in their ports and make sure their style/talent suits your purposes.
