About Me
.
30 years old self-taught photographer currently based in New York City --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A NEW CHAPTER: NEW GOALS I've recently come to a realization that I'm standing at a crossroads, professionally, and I’m excited to seize the opportunity to turn the page and enter into a new phase with my photography. Up until this point, I’ve found satisfaction and success in simply taking pretty pictures of pretty people. Doing so has introduced me to so many talented and dynamic individuals, who have helped me reach the point where I am today, and for that, I truly wouldn’t change a thing. However, my portfolio does not feel as if it’s truly my own, nor is it an accurate representation of the style I want to be associated with as an aspiring artist. Collectively, I feel it lacks depth, direction, and a consistency of style and motive. Motive perhaps being the most important… Looking back, a majority of the images shot thus far, in my short career, were created with the motive of building the portfolios of others and helping them realize their goals instead of focusing on achieving visions of my own. I've been anxiously awaiting the right time to take that next step. I believe that time is now. I’m ready to make that leap from calling myself simply a photographer with technical skills into that of a true artist with a unique vision and creative style of my own. I want to create images that stir the soul and excite the senses, that move, enlighten, and inspire,… images that are dynamic and cinematic in nature, that capture an emotion or mood, and tell a story—all while incorporating elements and motifs that I hope will come to define my style: the human body, nature and landscapes, color, symmetry, and surrealism—and play with the boundaries that separate what we perceive to be fantasy and reality. Ultimately, I want to achieve the type of success where the quality and unique style of my work, alone, serves as a signature of the artist who created it. I want my images to possess that rare quality where a single glance and you know just who took it. I’ve played it safe and learned the rules and now I’m ready to bend, break, and transcend them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TF WORK/TESTING: Please check to see if I have any current castings available. If not, please feel free to establish contact in the form of a message or email where I can keep up with you. TAGS just get pushed down the page and quickly forgotten. Sometimes I am looking for a specific look to execute a concept I already have in mind. More often than not, I am just looking for people that inspire me. At that point, I like to develop a concept specifically tailored around that particular model and his or her overall look, personality/vibe, and goals. I am very flexible and always open to any ideas you have. However, please note that my time devoted to TF work is limited to specific portfolio-enhancing concepts only. If you are serious about wanting to work with me, show some interest and commitment by reading through my profile and taking the time to establish contact in a professional manner. Saying nothing more than "Let's Shoot!" get's us nowhere. I need to know your availability, ideas, and goals and if I believe it's a good fit, we can move forward from there to organize a mutually beneficial shoot for the both of us. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cheers to all you passing through and thanks for all of your support and encouragement. -Blake Verified Credits (0)Worked with Blake Brooks?
