I first developed an interest in photography at 17, while still in high school, when I was given an Olympus film camera that belonged to my grandfather. I fell in love with the art of photography and began to look at studying it full time with the intention of pursuing a career as a photographer. One thing lead to another and I dropped out of high school to take on degrees in both photography and graphic design at TAFE.

In the following years I acquired digital camera equipment and several qualifications in the fields of desktop publishing, graphic design production and of course photography, after which I began a career in production and retouching, while still practicing photography on the side, still hoping to follow the dream of making a career for myself.

I got lucky, and was "headhunted" by a family friend, the photographer of my parents' wedding -- I was invited to come and work with him, with the intention of taking over his business and clients when he wishes to retire. My real photography career began here, primarily working in real estate but also covering social events and a couple of weddings as well.

While real estate photography is very steady, my true passion lies in capturing the human form, and so I have always had an interest in photographing people, and their stories. Unfortunately it has been hard for me to come across willing subjects without much prior experience (houses don't count for much when trying to convince people to jump in front of the lens), and so membership to Model Mayhem seems like the next logical step in order to connect with like minded people and hopefully be able to finally achieve that goal.
