Gerardo Somoza began his career in photography 28 years ago. His areas of expertise are in fashion photography, still life and corporate portraiture. He completed the photography for the books “The Secret Lives of Frames: One Hundred Years of Art & Artistry” – Hachette-Filipacchi and “Rubber: Fun, Fashion, Fetish” by Janet Bloor – Thames & Hudson. Over the years, Gerardo has photographed numerous book jackets, the most recent being “Raw Food” for famed nutritionist Natalia Rose and “Chocolate Please” for Lisa Lampanelli both for Harper Collins.
Gerardo’s portraiture includes politicians, corporate executives, business owners, athletes, movie stars, entertainers, models and fashion icons. He recently photographed Donna Karan with whom he has had as a client for the last 12 years. His runway photography of the Donna Karan 2009 Spring/Fall shows was used by the company for its national advertising campaign. Gerardo has completed numerous look-books and catalogues for top fashion houses, Luca Luca, Calvin Klein, Elie Tahari, Diane Von Furstenburg and others.
