Hamra Alam is born and raised in England.

She completed a degree in Fashion and Design and a second degree in Modern Arabic studies in Leeds. She then went onto working as a fashion designer in Egypt for 12 months. After arriving in Dubai in 2003, she set up her label ‘Hamra’, fusing traditional ideas with modern twists.
